His mixture of effortless, retro electronica and disco-laced rock is addictive, and feels even more refined here. His falsetto vocals bounce off of gritty, distorted guitar melodies and those chunky basslines sit seamlessly below both energetic drum patterns and thin-textured breakdowns. “The video features me wandering about town dressed as a lonely monkey,” Le Junk explains. “I wanted to capture this sense of alienation and disconnect in a real, literal sense and thought what better way to do this than to dress up like a monkey and go about daily life.” You can see this genre-bending artist at London’s Shacklewell Arms on January 28th, 2023. -Dan Peeke.
